Single vineyard wine from Tarrawarra in the lower Yarra. Spur pruned MV6, 777, D4V6 and G5V15 clones on sandy loam soils with north western aspect at 140m elevation.
Entirely destemmed. Cold soak and fermentation in open fermenters. Selected yeasts. Hand plunged. Large format oak. 30% new Damy Alliers French oak for 11 months on lees.
Vigna 800 Amarone displays an intense complex bouquet with multi-layered aromas of dark flowers like violets & red roses, cherries preserved in alcohol, morels and plums. Hints of black pepper, liquorice and plain chocolate.
A palate of warm, elegant and velvety in the mouth feel with a long persistence and harmony.
